This project is a product and packaging design concept for a series of clown-themed blind box art figures. The media produced spans character concept graphics, box design, and a 3D mock-up of the packaging and a sample figure.
A medieval jester model concept, whose palette and overall design is informed by the historical print Der Schalksnarr by Heinrich Vogtherr the Younger.
A party clown concept featuring contrasting star iconography and soft, rounded forms.
A model concept designed in the image of the pantomime stock character, Pierrot.
A rodeo clown concept drawing iconography and colours from the Japanese fashion subculture, gyaru.
A sad clown concept using rounded, raincloud-like forms, a 20th century, circus clown style costume, and desaturated colours.
The logotype for the figures uses 'DM Sans' and the stylised, bubbly 'Sudz' typefaces, using contrast to enhance the playful tone. And the former continues to serve as the style for additional branded type.
The colourised logotype as well as the model concept graphics are applied on the box wrap design.
The Pierrot clown is modelled and textured as a sample.
The sample model is posed in alignment with its character.
The final 3D elements are staged in a product mock-up.
